This site will be blacked out for 24 hours, starting midnight on the 18th January, 2012. I urge you to also support this and tell your Congressman to help stop this insane Bill. The last thing we need is a bunch of politicians(who are, at best, lucky to open an email!) controlling the internet. The internet is not to be owned, but to be cultivated, supported and improved. I will fight for our freedom and not allow the US government to take control the world’s internet. But like most things, the US government thinks it runs the show of anything and everything. But no more. We have the voice to let them know to back off and leave the internet alone – period!

WP Dolly Pro Now Automated

WP Dolly Pro now has automatic(schedule) WordPress backups to Amazon S3, Dropbox, Your Server and Email(database only).

Adding the ability to schedule backups is a huge benefit in backing up your WordPress site/blog. Set your scheduled backups, hourly, daily, weekly or monthly to Amazon S3, Dropbox, Server or Email.

WordPress Copy WP Dolly Pro

After 7 months of development, WP Dolly Pro, a WordPress copy/cloner plugin has been released.

After being really disappointed with the cloners on the market, I decided to create my own. But traveling that path looking for a cloner that was simple and easy to use, was not easy to find, I discovered that there are many so-called cloners available, but most were just difficult to use, especially when they claimed “one click” simplicity.

The popular cloners require too many steps to get the job done. They want you to…

upload a settings PHP file to your server
then call that file through your browser (ex: http://mysite.com/settingsfile.php)
create the clone and download to your computer
then upload that “clone” and another clone PHP file to the server where you want the clone
and then call the file through your browser, just to complete the cloning process.

Plus, in most cases, you need a fresh install of WordPress on the target server, before you can even start cloning. When I saw this, I thought about how people new to the internet(newbies) would handle this. The answer is that they would have great difficulty in getting the job done.

The cloners that are on the market today, are just PHP scripts and are not WordPress plugins. I have developed a WordPress plugin that will clone a site in under a minute(depending on the size of the website). Just upload the plugin to your admin area, activate it, then add the target site’s server login details and click “Clone”, it is as simple as that. No uploading, downloading files, or calling PHP scripts through your browser, just add the server details and click “Clone”. WP Dolly Pro does not require WordPress to be installed on the target server, it does that for you!!

But that’s not all that WP Dolly Pro can do. WP Dolly Pro can also complete full backups of your website and/or database backups, to your computer, your server and to Dropbox® AND it can also restore a website that has been hacked or just broken through the users mistake, with the same simplicity as the copy/cloner function.

I am really pleased at how WP Dolly Pro has evolved. It is simple, yet effective and accurate. Simplicity is the key to anything, and that is what I have achieved with WP Dolly Pro. WordPress Themes

When creating a WordPress theme, it is important to provide inbuilt SEO. Most designers just get it wrong, but claim their themes are search engine optimized. The most fundamental seo strategy, is to provide the correct H tag layout.

The home page h1 tag needs to be for the site title. Page/post titles need to be h1, NOT the site title. 95% of WordPress themes do not follow this simple strategy. StudioPress themes follow this rule and are quite successful with it.
